Liz Idowu
Have you ever met someone so traumatized by their high school math experience that they legit blocked out a year of their life?! Vanessa chats with Liz Idowu, who now works as an admin assistant at Vanessa’s math tutoring studio and is determined to overcome her fear of numbers even though it’s been 20 years since she kissed math bye for good.
SHOW NOTES
WTF is OAC?! OAC = Ontario Academic Credit, which was a fifth year of high school for Ontario students who were preparing to enter post-secondary school. It replaced Grade 13 after it was phased out in 1988. OAC was discontinued in 2003, so Ontario high schools now only have four years (grades 9 to 12).
Manhunt Math? In case you missed the Canada manhunt in the summer of 2019 that Vanessa and Liz discussed, you can read about it here.
LIZ’S PRESCRIPTION
You know the deal: Vanessa gives each of her podcast guests a Math Therapy prescription to fulfill, because, what kind of Math Therapist would she be otherwise? Well guess what guys. Our dear friend Liz, who has apparently blacked out all of Grade 10 math, was asked to learn alllll about parabolas. And she did! We will be posting an adorable pic & vid of Liz learning all about parabolas on our insta, guaranteed to warm your heart!
