Back-to-school style icons
All that online learning has deprived us of one of the best parts of school: cruising those hallways with your #OOTD in check! Now that schools are starting to reopen, what better way to ease yourself back into that hallway-swagger mindset than with the help of a few pop culture icons? We’ve gathered a list of our top back-to-school style icons to provide you with some serious #throwback first day of school outfit inspiration.
Cher, Tai & Dionne from Clueless
OK - so maybe this one is kind of a given, but we couldn’t help ourselves! The ladies of Clueless are always dressed on point, and we love that they aren’t afraid to dress in bright and bold styles!
The Cast of Degrassi
If Cher’s wardrobe is a little out of your budget (which we reckon it most likely is), then look no further than our own “6ix-grown” characters of Degrassi. Since the show has run for so many seasons, you can take style inspiration that spans over three decades.
Riverdale
This show is full of #OOTDS and while the plotlines are a bit ridiculous, the lewks definitely make this show worth watching. Just don’t count on understanding why things happen the way they do, because trust us, it’s a lost cause!
Harry Potter
Now, we’re not saying you should show up in a full-on cape and wave a wand around on your first day back, but we DO encourage originality and uniqueness in whatever endeavours you might pursue. We love that Hogwarts students look super put-together with their coordinating ties and scarfs- and you can never go wrong with a crisp white shirt.
Lizzie McGuire
Another “throwback” character, Lizzie McGuire tackled middle school with some of our favourite outfits ever. Lizzie’s had an outgoing personality, and her wardrobe choices always reflected that. She’s inspired us to always try and look cute, fun and comfortable - no matter what kind of issues come up.
Blair Waldorf (& the entire Gossip Girl squad)
For all our private school students out there, this one’s for you! The girls of Constance Billard sure knew how to take a basic uniform and make it look runway-ready. We know that different schools have different dress-codes and rules on just how far you can take the accessorizing, but if you’re in doubt you can’t go wrong with a classy hairband à-la Blair Waldorf!
